Paramount Pictures Original Italian fotobustas. Three 14x19 color lithographs of Charlton Heston and Eleanor Parker. The film was directed by Byron Haskin. One of the great potboiliers of the early fifties, the film was based on a 1937 short story by the Austrian writer Carl Stephenson, "Leiningen Versus the Ants." The story was first published in Esquire Magazine in 1938, and was brought to life on screen by George Pal, fresh off the special effects of WAR OF THE WORLDS (1953). Heston plays an arrogant plantation owner in South America determined to defeat an invasion of Marabunta Ants two miles wide and 20 miles long. Special effects required! None were needed for Heston and Parker however, who managed to steam up the screen on their own power. These prints are vivid, but the condition is average used.
