This highly entertain adaptation of Shakespeare's play features Laurence Fishburne as Othello, Kenneth Branagh as Iago and Irene Jacob as Desdemona, and Anna Patrick as Emilia. There's a bit of a feminist perspective to this OTHELLO, and Anna Patrick gives some immediacy in this respect to her role. Branagh was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award. This was the first time that an African American actor was given the role of Othello in a production from a major studio. Laurence Fishburne's performance of the jealous moor is excellent.
