American Video Release Poster (11x25) for the Alex Cox music biography, SID & NANCY (1986) starring Gary Oldman, Chloe Webb, David Hayman, and Debby Bishop. This film about love and addiction is a morbid, over-the-top biography of Sid Vicious (Oldman), bassist for the British punk rock band The Sex Pistols and his girlfriend Nancy Spungen (Webb). Although Oldman and Webb give extraordinary performances, the film suffers from the fact that it is impossible to like either one of them; instead, they are portrayed as brain-dead junkies that even their own entourage can't stand. Certainly the early punk rock era is realized with lots of gorgeous images,biting wit, and musical interludes-- but ultimately the film is a depressing slog through the muck of self-destructive obsession. The film was released on video cassette originally by Samuel Goldwyn Home Video. These posters have never been folded and date from 1987.
