Original Belgian poster for the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical. James Michener wrote the original material on which this legendary Broadway show was based. The play starred Mary Martin as Nellie Forbush, the navy nurse from Arkansas, but Fox player Mitzi Gaynor was tapped for the film version which was directed by Joshua Logan. Made in the 70mm process Todd AO, the film was extremely popular and ran in roadshow for over a year. The colorful Belgian is in many ways better than American posters for the title. This poster is in fine condition.
