First release Italian four-foglio (79x55) for the Fred Zinnemann war drama, FROM HERE TO ETERNITY (1953) starring Burt Lancaster, Montgomery Clift, Deborah Kerr, Donna Reed, and Frank Sinatra. Based on the best selling novel by James Jones, the film chronicles an U.S. Army private Pruitt (Clift) who requests a transfer and winds up in Hawaii only days before the attack on Pearl Harbor. At his previous base, Pruitt was the boxing champion but refuses to fight anymore. When a bully sergeant beats his buddy to death, Pruitt seeks revenge. While all of the acting performances are great, Clift delivers the best performance of his career. The film was nominated for thirteen Academy Awards and won 8 OscarsÑincluding Best Picture, Best Director to Zinnemann, Best Supporting Actor to Sinatra, and Best Supporting Actress to Reed.
