The film had been made once before, in 1936, by Universal. But MGM provided Technicolor and lavish sets characteristic of their musical films at the time. The songs are beautiful, the film is romantic and there is a racial subtext to the story that gives it a degree of seriousness. Condition is fine plus. There are some fold intersection separations, but overall the poster is nice, with vivid color. Well worth linen-backing.
